| The Construction Bureau serves the citizens of Roseland by
enforcing the Uniform Construction Code of the State of New Jersey. The
Construction Bureau is comprised of four Sub departments: Building, Electrical,
Plumbing, and Fire. |

| Schedules: Allow 24 hrs advance notice to request an
appointment with an inspector. Reviews with Contractors are by Appointment
Only. Applications will be accepted daily 8:30am - 4:30pm. Three (3) sets
of plans are required and a copy of a recent survey. |

| A Continued Certificate of Occupancy (CCO Form) is required
on all resales, rentals, and/or change of tenancy. Basically, this form certifies
that the dwelling meets basic inspection safeguards. |

Items generally looked at for at for Zoning-CCO
Inspections:
-
Work done without permits.
-
Working Smoke Detector on each level, including basement.
-
Carbon Monoxide Detector, one per unit. Usually in sleeping area or level.
-
Relief valves on hot water heater and boiler piped in to within 8" of floor.
-
Sump pump (if present) is piped to the outside of house or unit. (Not connected
to sanitary sewer line.)
-
Hand rails for anything over two (2) steps.
-
All switch and outlet covers in place
-
Stairs in good shape, interior and exterior. (No loose treads or bricks.)
-
Attached garages, no holes in walls or ceilings.
-
All toilets and faucets in working order.
-
Hot water. (110 degrees min.) Hot faucet on left side.
-
Proper fit and venting of furnace/boiler and hot water heater to chimney.
-
Electric service panel in good shape (no openings).
-
No exposed wires or open electrical boxes.
-
No broken windows or glass.
-
Any visible safety faults.
